Constitutional Judge Chung Hyung-sik, nominated by President Yoon Suk Yeol himself, has been decided as the chief judge to hear the impeachment trial.

The Constitutional Court allocated President Yoon's impeachment case to Justice Chung today (16th).

In a constitutional trial, the referee is decided by a random lottery by computer.

Constitutional Court officials explained that the chief judge is only in charge of approval in administrative procedures, such as notification to the parties, and that the roles given in the review and hearing are not different from those of other judges.

Justice Chung is the 17th term of the Judicial Research and Training Institute and was appointed by President Yoon last year after serving as a senior judge at the Seoul High Court.

Earlier on the 6th, controversy erupted when it was revealed that the deputy of former Liberty Forward Party lawmaker Park Sun-young, who was appointed by President Yoon as chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, was a justice.
