The Democratic Party of Korea has confirmed the schedule of confirmation hearings for three candidates to fill the vacancy of the Constitutional Court.
They are speeding up the restoration of the Constitutional Court's "nine-member system," saying they will not stop the people's power operation to delay the president's impeachment trial.

The Democratic Party of Korea has begun the process of selecting candidates for constitutional judges recommended by the ruling and opposition parties, as it has vowed.
Although members of the People's Power were absent, the opposition party alone convened a special committee on personnel hearings by entrusting Park Ji-won, the 22nd oldest member of the National Assembly, to a temporary gavel.
It adopted a plan in 20 minutes to formally elect lawmaker Park as the chairman of the special committee and to hold hearings for three judges on the 23rd and 24th.

According to the separation of powers, the Democratic Party stressed that the appointment of three judges elected by the National Assembly cannot be rejected by neither the president nor the acting president.
He criticized the ruling party's true intention of interfering with the impeachment hearing of the president, which recommended the judge's candidate and belatedly came up with the "no-nomination theory."
Otherwise, it does not explain the change in the attitude of floor leader Kwon Sung-dong, who said that he could appoint a judge appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court during the impeachment of former President Park Geun Hye.

Not only the Constitutional Court but also public institutions such as the National Assembly's Legislative Investigation Office agreed that acting Han Deok-soo could be appointed as a judge, pointing out that there is no place to keep pace with the ruling party's deterrent logic.
Woo Won-sik, chairman of the National Assembly, also said, "It is urgent to stabilize the state of affairs, but there is an unnecessary controversy," adding, "Han should appoint a constitutional judge as soon as the National Assembly elects him."
After completing the confirmation hearing process, the opposition party plans to pass the motion to appoint a constitutional judge at the plenary session on the 27th at the earliest.
The calculation is that the nine-member system must be restored to reduce unnecessary disputes during the impeachment process.
