Shinsegae Group Chairman Chung Yong-jin is visiting the U.S. at the invitation of Donald Trump Jr., a key figure in the upcoming Trump administration.

Trump Jr. is the eldest son of the Trump family and is seen as a key player in the next administration's economic policies.

It is known that Chairman Chung is very close to each other for religious reasons and is meeting for the fourth time this year alone.

Chairman Chung is staying at a resort in "Mar-a-Lago" in Palm Beach, Florida, where Trump's home is located.

Chairman Chung is the first Korean political and business figures to visit this place since the U.S. presidential election.

President-elect Trump's donor dinner is also scheduled at the same place, drawing keen attention to whether Chung and Trump will meet in a surprise manner.

[Lee In-cheol/Reference: The fact that the head of a large company now meets with President-elect Trump in a diplomatic vacuum means a lot. [It could be an opportunity for Trump to understand his intentions when he can use the tariff card against his allies as leverage in trade negotiations.]

The Japanese side is moving quickly, with Son Jeong-ui, chairman of Softbank, already promising to invest in Mar-a-Lago.

[Donald Trump / U.S. President-elect] Let me ask you right now. Can you do it with a $200 billion investment?]

[Son Jeong-ui / Chairman of Japan's Softbank Group: Well, my commitment is $100 billion, and he's asking me to invest more now.]

Chairman Chung Yong-jin seems to avoid the burden, saying it is only a personal visit, but if business consultations are made, it could be a breakthrough in the economic diplomacy vacuum.
