"The Fed cannot hold Bitcoin," Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stressed.
Powell said at a press conference after the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) was held, "We have no intention of pushing for changes to the system related to Bitcoin holdings."
The Fed also said it has no intention of engaging in any efforts by the second Trump administration to hold large amounts of bitcoin.
On the legal issues related to holding Bitcoin, he flatly said, "It's something that Congress should consider."
Earlier, Trump announced that the U.S. government would strategically stockpile Bitcoin after taking office.
After Powell's remarks, the price of Bitcoin, which crossed the $108,000 mark the day before, once fell below the $100,000 mark.
