The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said it has imposed fines on three airlines, Korean Air, Delta Air Lines and Air Astana, for mistakes in keeping passengers on board for a long time.
The amount charged is 25 million won for Korean Air, 35 million won for Delta Air Lines and 10 million won for Air Astana, respectively.
Korean Air allowed passengers to stay in the moving area for four hours and eight minutes while boarding the aircraft during the preparation for the re-takeoff of Incheon-Delhi flights on July 23.
Delta Air Lines was also fined 25 million won on August 24 for its Incheon-Atlanta flight to stay in the moving area for 4 hours and 58 minutes with passengers on board, and sold tickets on its official website without reporting the Incheon-Salt Lake fare and fare to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, adding 10 million won in fines.
Air carriers should not allow aircraft carrying passengers to stay in the travel area for more than a certain period of time, but it is based on three hours for domestic flights and four hours for international flights.
Air Astana was charged 10 million won for violating the Incheon-Astana route fare reporting obligation.
