A mother and daughter separated more than 50 years ago met dramatically through genetic registration.
The Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said their daughter A in her 50s and mother B in her 90s met again after 55 years.
According to the police, A was left at a relative's house in Seongdong-gu, Seoul at the age of two and lost contact with his family over time, and his last name and resident registration number were also changed in the process.
A visited Gangnam-gu in May 2019 to report missing to find his separated family and registered the gene. In May this year, his mother B also registered the gene in Pohang Nambu, opening the door for family reunions.
The police collected A's genes again in August, and confirmed that the two were mother and daughter in cooperation with the Children's Rights Security Agency and the National Forensic Service.
