Yes, the incident occurred in Magdeburg, the eastern German city.

A car drove into an outdoor Christmas market yesterday afternoon local time, causing dozens of casualties.

Local media, citing police and rescue authorities, said at least two people were killed and 68 injured, 15 of whom were seriously injured.

In addition, the death toll is likely to increase, with one adult and one child confirmed so far.

CCTV footage showed the vehicle in question at the time of the accident running at a high speed of more than 400 meters through a narrow passage between Christmas market stands,

arrested the driver at the scene and said it was believed to be a deliberate attack.

It added that police are searching for explosives in vehicles left at the scene.

The suspect caught at the scene is a 50-year-old man from Saudi Arabia, a doctor who settled in Germany in 2006.

It is believed to be the sole crime committed by driving a rental car with a Munich license plate.

In Germany, 13 people were killed and more than 60 injured in a terrorist attack targeting a Christmas market set up in central Berlin in 2016.

The suspect, identified as an Islamic extremist, was killed four days later after a gunfight with police in Italy.

Since then, the German government has been wary of terrorist threats at the end of the year, detecting several suspects who planned to attack Christmas markets.
