Cold wave warnings have been issued in northeastern Gyeonggi Province and Gangwon Province.
The special warning areas are in seven northeastern regions of Gyeonggi-do, including Dongducheon, Paju, Yeoncheon, and Gapyeong, and all of Gangwon-do except the east coast of Gangwon-do, and the effective time is 9 p.m. today (21st).
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said a strong chill below minus 30 degrees Celsius is expected to move southward over the northwest behind snow clouds, causing temperatures to drop significantly by more than 10 degrees, mainly in the special report area, and extreme cold with a minimum temperature of minus 12 degrees Celsius is expected to last more than two days.
There is no cold wave warning in Seoul, but the temperature will drop to minus 6 degrees Celsius tomorrow morning, and the wind chill will drop to minus 11 degrees Celsius.
Cold wave warnings are issued when the temperature drops by more than 10 degrees from the previous day to below 3 degrees, or when morning lows are expected to last more than two days below minus 12 degrees Celsius.
