On the first weekend after the impeachment motion of Yoon Suk Yeol's president was passed by the National Assembly, the ruling and opposition parties took a moment to catch their breath and strengthened their battle lines.

The people's power focused on the task of appointing the emergency committee chairman, which is an immediate task, and the Democratic Party of Korea predicted high-intensity pressure on the government and the ruling party.

Reporter Lim Sung-jae's report.

Kwon Sung-dong, acting chairman and floor leader of the People's Power Party, who has the right to nominate the emergency committee chairman, has been mulling over the weekend.

After collecting opinions from the first and second-term lawmakers and the third and fourth-term lawmakers on who will be suitable for the fifth emergency committee chairman, they are continuing to think about it at the last minute.

[Kwon Seong-dong / Acting People's Power Party leader and floor leader (20th): We haven't found the right direction yet. There are many opinions and there are conflicting opinions, so I'm saying that I'm also considering it.While the preference for a "two-top system" in which other people besides acting

head the emergency committee prevails within the party, a five-term senior member with experience is considered a leading candidate.

However, in this case, it is a burden that the image of the so-called "road pro-yoon party" cannot be avoided.

As Kwon Young-se and Na Kyung-won have all strongly expressed their "opposition to impeachment," it is pointed out that they are far from the "reinventive emergency committee."The

'Outdoor Personnel' card is also alive, but the point of concern is that it is difficult to choose it immediately in the current phase where stability is important, and acting Kwon is expected to announce the chairman of the emergency committee as early as next week.

In addition, the Democratic Party of Korea has entered an "emergency action system" again, starting with Acting President Han Deok-soo's request for reconsideration, that is, the exercise of the veto power.

Representative Lee Jae-myung is strengthening public opinion by encouraging him to attend a rally calling for the dismissal of President Yoon,
The pressure on acting president
is also increasing.

[Park Chan-dae / floor leader of the main opposition Minjoo Party (20th): Prime Minister Han Deok-soo should think carefully about what his last appearance will look like in history at a time of national crisis.]

We are keeping an eye on Han's choice over the general independent counsel law, the acceptance of Kim's independent counsel law, and the appointment of a constitutional judge, which is considered the last line of civil war.

In the case of the two independent counsel laws, the last day of this year is actually the deadline for exercising veto power, but it does not rule out the possibility of impeachment without waiting until then.

We are even considering presenting a specific deadline to Han, saying that the process of recommending permanent special prosecutors for rebellion should also begin as soon as possible.

The Democratic Party of Korea is also expected to speed up the process of confirmation hearings for constitutional judges and parliamentary investigations into civil war at the National Assembly level, and there is a possibility that all of them will be conducted by the opposition party alone in the absence of the ruling party.
