Raymond Green, secretary-general of the American Jataiwan Association, a U.S. ambassador to Taiwan, predicted that a war in the Taiwan Strait would reduce 10 trillion dollars, or 10% of global GDP.

According to local media in Taiwan, Minister Green made the remarks in an invited lecture held in Taipei by the Taiwan Business Association, the Republic of China Industry and Commerce Association, on the 20th.

In particular, Green stressed that half of the world's container ships pass through the Taiwan Strait, and 70% of the advanced semiconductors are produced in Taiwan.

"Taiwan has increased its defense budget since 2017, and it has increased from 2% to 2.5% in terms of GDP," Green said.

Regarding the launch of the second U.S. Donald Trump administration next year, Green said the U.S. will support the maintenance of peace in the Taiwan Strait with the same stance as before.

He then explained that he would continue to provide defense supplies and produce related munitions to maintain Taiwan's deterrence.
