The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that 12 local governments, including Daedeok-gu in Daejeon, Mungyeong-si in North Gyeongsang Province, and Dalseong-gun in Daegu, have been selected as urban regeneration projects in the second half of this year.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport previously held a contest in three categories: innovative districts to create regional bases, regional specialization using regional assets, and urban regeneration recognition projects that quickly implement small-scale projects, and selected the final 12 out of 47 local governments that applied for the project.
Three local governments were selected as candidates for the innovation district project: Gyeyang, Incheon, Daedeok, Daejeon, and Namyangju, Gyeonggi.
Six regional specialization projects were selected, including Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province, Jeju-si, Jeju-si, and Jangseong-gun, South Jeolla Province.
Three urban regeneration recognition projects were selected in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do, and Eumseong-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, which effectively planned the functions needed by residents.
Including the previously selected regions, the government will invest 321.8 billion won by next year, including 103 billion won in state funds and 171 billion won in local expenses.
