Overseas Korean Office and Taekwondo Promotion Foundation take the lead in spreading Taekwondo in overseas Korean communities.
The Overseas Koreans' Office is working with the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation to spread Taekwondo to Korean communities around the world.

The two organizations signed a business agreement today (23rd) at Muju Taekwondo Center in Jeollabuk-do and agreed to establish a mutual cooperation system.

The agreement includes fostering the identity of overseas Koreans through Taekwondo, establishing a cooperative system to expand the spread of overseas Taekwondo, utilizing Taekwondo center facilities and supporting contents when inviting Koreans, and cooperation in developing new projects and education and training programs for overseas Koreans.

According to the agreement, the two organizations plan to distribute Taekwondo to Korean communities around the world, foster Korean identity, and promote Korean traditional culture and values through Taekwondo, an official from the Overseas Korean Administration explained.

Lee Sang-deok, head of the Overseas Koreans Agency, said Taekwondo is an important medium for understanding Korean culture and values beyond just sports, and he hopes it will contribute to the diplomacy of the Korean government as well as the unity and development of the Korean community.
