Seongnam City announced that it has selected Seongnam Ecopia Co., Ltd. (tentative name) as the preferred bidder for the implementation of the project to relocate the Seongnam Water Quality Restoration Center (sewage treatment plant) in Bokjeong-dong, Sujeong-gu to Tancheonbyeon. The city of
evaluated the technology and price sectors with the Korea Environment Corporation on the contents of Seongnam Eco-Pia's proposal, which participated in the announcement of a third-party proposal for private investment projects (8.23 to 11.21).
Seongnam Ecopia Co., Ltd. will be designated as a project implementer if it signs an implementation agreement after verifying and negotiating detailed conditions on the total project cost (694.5 billion won) proposed to Seongnam City.
After that, the implementation plan will be approved and the underground project to relocate the Tancheon Stream side of the Bokjeong-dong sewage treatment plant will be implemented for about four years from the end of 2026.The city of
plans to move the Bokjeong-dong sewage treatment plant (460,000 tons/day) to the site of the waste treatment plant (54,000㎡) along Tancheon Stream in Taepyeong-dong, Sujeong-gu, about 1km away.
The sewage treatment plant will be installed as a modernized facility underground along with the food treatment facility (230 tons/day) on the ground of the waste treatment plant.
Large waste crushing facilities (50 tons/day) on the ground at the same place will also be refurbished as modernized facilities.

To this end, the city will purchase 57,000 square meters of land around the waste treatment plant and promote the integration of three facilities with a total size of 111,000 square meters.Residents-friendly facilities such as parks and sports facilities will be installed on the
land to create leisure and recreation spaces.
The completion target is by the end of 2030.
The project implementer will operate the facility for 30 years and hand over the operation rights to the city.An official from
said, "The sewage treatment plant was completed and aged in 1994, and due to continuous complaints of odor, the undergrounding of the Tancheonbyeon relocation will solve the odor problem and improve the water quality of Tancheon and the living environment of residents."
