A red fire rises from the back of the garage where city buses are gathered.

A fire broke out at a hydrogen gas charging station in Hoedong-dong, Busan, around 9 a.m.

It was also accompanied by a loud explosion that could be felt inside a nearby building.

[Witness: To the point where the floor on the first floor is shaking. To the point where you're saying "Bang" and you're sitting in the office and you can feel the vibration....]

The flames that soared at the scene were extinguished in 50 minutes, and fortunately, no casualties were found.

The fire was found to have come from a machine room with a hydrogen tank.

Fire authorities are investigating the exact cause, believing that the gas leaked from the damaged valve caught fire and led to an explosive fire.

[Witness: The sound is like war, bomb dropped. It was scary. I'm not going to die like this.... That's how I felt.]

The Korea Gas Safety Corporation, which conducted an on-site investigation, explained that there was no additional leakage of hydrogen gas due to the operation of safety facilities after the fire.

The charging station that caught fire is a facility that supplies fuel to hydrogen gas vehicles such as city buses, and faced opposition from residents who were concerned about safety accidents during the construction process.

Earlier on the 23rd, a bus that finished charging at a hydrogen charging station in Chungju, North Chungcheong Province, exploded, causing three people to suffer serious injuries.

Concerns about the safety of hydrogen charging stations are growing as fire accidents are repeated without the exact cause of the accident.
