Venezuela, Argentina clash over arrest of police officers
Argentina and Venezuela, bitter rivals in South America, are at odds over a forced investigation by Venezuelan prosecutors into an Argentine police officer.

Venezuelan prosecutors say an Argentine police officer will be charged with destabilizing the situation and attempting to commit terrorist acts with the support of far-right groups.

An Argentine police officer named Nauel Agustin K-pop stated that he was arrested after entering Venezuela through Colombia and that he had visited Venezuela to meet his girlfriend.

Argentina's President Javier Milay accused the Venezuelan government of kidnapping its police officers.

Argentina has been at the forefront of criticism of the Nicolas Maduro regime in the wake of the July 28 Venezuelan presidential election, which has caused international concerns over unfair counting.

Following the expulsion of Argentine diplomats, Maduro's government has increased surveillance around the mission to secure the whereabouts of the country's opposition figure who has fled to the Argentine embassy in Caracas.

Even now, the Argentine Embassy in Venezuela is temporarily managed by Brazilian authorities at the request of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, Argentina's Milay government cooperated with the U.S. detention process of the Venezuelan company's "Emtrasur" cargo plane in Buenos Aires, and Venezuela's Maduro government protested that it had "stolen our assets."

The two countries have scrambled to request the International Criminal Police Agency Interpol to place the head of the other country as a criminal.
