Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says several North Korean soldiers were captured alive by Ukrainian forces but died.
President Zelenskyy said in a video address on Thursday local time that the captured North Korean soldiers were very seriously injured and could not recover.
It also said Russia and North Korea have no interest in ensuring the soldiers' survival, and accused the Russian military of providing them with minimal protection and pushing them to the battlefield.
However, it did not reveal specific figures, including how many North Korean soldiers died after being captured alive.
President Zelenskyy also said that all measures are being taken to prevent Ukrainian troops from capturing North Korean troops alive, and that he has even executed his own soldiers.
He added that North Korea's neighbor China should put appropriate pressure on North Korea if it is sincere in its position that the war should not escalate.
