"NVIDIA Invests 1.4 Trillion Won In AI Companies In 2024..."10x in 2 years".

2025.01.02 AM 03:21
U.S. semiconductor company Nvidia invested more than $1 billion in artificial intelligence and AI-related companies and about 1.4 trillion won in our money last year, the British daily Financial Times reported.

Based on corporate disclosures and analysis of corporate information companies, the newspaper said Nvidia invested a total of $1 billion last year through 50 startup corporate financing and mergers and acquisitions.

This scale is 15% more than in 2023 and more than 10 times more than in 2022.

Nvidia's investments are smaller than Google's, but they have caught up with Microsoft and Amazon.

Nvidia's stock soared more than 170% last year on the AI craze.

"NVIDIA, a leader in AI chips, has emerged as an important supporter of start-up companies that benefit from the AI technology revolution its chips are powering," the Financial Times said.

In addition, acquisitions of AI-related companies have increased significantly, and Nvidia's acquisition volume last year was larger than that of the previous four years combined.

The main targets of investment were a wide range, including medical technology and search engines, games and drones.

Amid growing pressure on fair competition for AI technology in the U.S., Europe and China, there are also voices of concern over Nvidia's move.

"Competitive authorities want to investigate whether the leading companies are seeking a monopoly with such large investments," said William Kovasic, former chairman of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission.

Nvidia explained, "We are working to grow the industry ecosystem, support great businesses, and enhance the platform for everyone."
