Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, head of the Central Foreign Affairs Office of the Communist Party of China, will travel to four African countries at the beginning of the year.
"Wang Yi will visit Namibia, the Republic of Congo, Chad and Nigeria on the 5th and 11th in response to the invitation," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said at a regular briefing.
This marks the 35th consecutive year that China's foreign minister has chosen Africa as his first destination at the beginning of the year, Maoning said.
