The Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency's anti-corruption and economic crime investigation team launched a search and seizure of the office of Gunpo Mayor Ha Eun-ho, who is suspected of violating the anti-graft law this morning (7th).
It is the first time in six months that the police have conducted a forced investigation into the allegations.
Earlier in July last year, five members of the Democratic Party of Korea, including Representative Shin Geum-ja, accused Mayor Ha of violating the anti-graft law.
At the time, Representative Shin and others claimed that they received a report that Mayor Ha received more than 3 million won in bribes in the first fiscal year.
In response, Mayor Ha said, "In the case of building maintenance expenses, we borrowed money and paid it directly, and since then, we have repaid all of them, so we will take legal action, claiming that it is not a loan."
