Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Ahn Deok-geun, who has been visiting the U.S. since the 6th, met with U.S. federal, state and congressional officials to discuss ways to strengthen energy trade cooperation between South Korea and the U.S.

The industry ministry said Ahn met with the U.S. Energy Secretary, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), Georgia state and state lawmakers, federal senators and congressmen, and officials from major think tanks.

First of all, Minister Ahn met with members of the U.S. Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee, which are in charge of trade and taxation, and asked them to continue to create a favorable environment for Korean companies.

In a meeting with Senator Todd Young, who co-sponsored the Ship Act, a law to strengthen the U.S. shipbuilding industry, he decided to continue to communicate and cooperate in the process of preparing the U.S. shipbuilding industry reconstruction bill and policy.

He then met with lawmakers from districts where Korean companies' investment in the U.S., including Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama, and asked them to "give active support and attention to ensure that Korean companies' investment projects in the U.S. are carried out stably and smoothly."
