The Gyeonggi provincial government refuted criticism from some local governments that they are turning a blind eye to the establishment of a metropolitan railway in southern Gyeonggi Province, saying it is not true.Gyeonggi Province's Deputy Governor Ko Young-in
held a press conference and said, "The Gyeonggi Southern Railway is a highly economical project, and private investors have already submitted their business intentions to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is also pushing for the expansion of the railway private investment project."

The Gyeonggi Southern Railway Project is a 50.7km-long route from Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul to Hwaseong via Seongnam, Yongin, and Suwon.

Currently, the economic value (BC) is raised to 1.20 by reducing the number of trains (cans) within the extension of the existing subway line 3.

Earlier, Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il and Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin issued a statement at the same time on the 9th and strongly criticized Gyeonggi Province.

Yongin Mayor Lee Sang-il criticized, "All three GTX Plus projects will be invested with 12.3 trillion won to benefit 490,000 people, while Gyeonggi Southern Railway will benefit 1.38 million people with 5.2 trillion won," adding, "It is sophistry to talk about the interests of all Gyeonggi residents after promising to build a railway in Suwon, Yongin, Hwaseong, and Seongnam in February 2023."

Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin also stressed, "In fact, it is clear that Governor Kim aims to implement his pledge of GTX Plus project," adding, "We have not heard any position from Gyeonggi Province in advance for the submission of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the three priority routes."
