Yutaka Matsushige, who has a solid fan base in Korea with the popular Japanese drama "Lonely Gourmet," expressed her feelings in collaboration with actor Yoo Jae-myung, who appeared in the work, including his relationship with director Bong Joon-ho.

Today (3rd), Yutaka Matsushige, an actor and director of the 29th Busan International Film Festival's open cinema section, was held at the Video Industry Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan.

"The Movie," the first theater version of "The Solitary Gourmet," which has been loved for 12 years, tells the story of Goro, who was asked to find a soup he tasted as a child by an old man, going to Japan, France, and Korea to find an unknown soup.

Unlike TV dramas, which focused on scenes where people ate deliciously without dramatic stories, the theater version was equipped with a dramatic structure and reinforced comedy elements. On top of that, Yutaka Matsushige is holding a megaphone himself, raising expectations for long-time fans.

At the meeting, Yutaka Matsushige revealed a variety of stories, ranging from special feelings toward Korea to stories about his works.

Regarding the reason for directing the work beyond his appearance, he said, "It's a TV series that has lasted 12 years, but the current situation in the Japanese TV industry is not very good. Staff members sometimes quit at sites where there is a risk of talent leakage. Therefore, I decided to make a movie thinking that there should be stimulation in Japanese dramas," he explained.

In particular, Matsushige Yutaka drew attention by revealing an anecdote that he sent a letter because he wanted to direct the work with director Bong Joon-ho.

He said, "Many people in Korea know 'lone gourmet', so I sent a letter saying that I would like them to direct with me. It was a reckless attempt, but I got a reply. Director Bong Joon-ho said, "Unfortunately, I can't be with you due to some problems, but I look forward to your work."

He then said, "I felt like I should direct with leadership rather than directing other directors. In addition, he added, "It will be a fun attempt to grow the TV drama team," indicating that directing the work was a challenge for him and an opportunity for his growth.

He also did not forget his gratitude and satisfaction for actor Yoo Jae-myung who worked with him.

He watched the movie "No Sound" while looking for which actor to act with in a scene centered on Korea, and the moment he saw the work, he thought, "I'm Yoo Jae-myung." Yutaka Matsushige said, "I'm really happy that Yoo Jae-myung, who I thought about for the first time, was with me. "I don't know what to say, but I think the biggest achievement of this movie is that you can breathe with laughter like this," he said, expressing his gratitude to Yoo Jae-myung.

Meanwhile, "Lonely Gourmet The Movie" will be released for the first time at the Busan International Film Festival before its release in Japan in January 2025. Later, the movie will be released in Korea in March next year.
