Professors at medical schools across the country have raised criticism, saying the government is attempting to neutralize the Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation, which evaluates and certifies medical schools.

Professors of medical schools across the country held a "National Conference of Professors of Medical Schools to Stop the Disability of the Medical Council" in front of the War Memorial in Yongsan, Seoul today.

At the meeting, Choi Chang-min, chairman of the emergency committee for medical professors, said the ministry is trying to put pressure on the council and even abolish it by revising the enforcement ordinance.

He then stressed that the parliamentary audit should reveal all the processes that lead to the neutralization of the parliament and the insolvency of medical schools, saying that the parliamentary inspection is the minimum safety device that guarantees the quality of medical school education.

Kim Chang-soo, chairman of the National Council of Professors of Medical University, also pointed out that the government is trying to produce doctors at the level of underdeveloped countries through the neutralization of the medical school as the number of medical schools has become impossible due to the increase of 2,000.

Earlier, the government announced some amendments to the "Regulations on the Evaluation and Certification of Higher Education Institutions," which will give medical schools more than a year of supplementary period before the medical school is certified if a major disaster occurs and academic management is not carried out normally.
