Climate activist Greta Thunberg has been arrested by police during a sit-in in Belgium against fossil fuel subsidies while blocking roads.

Foreign media, including the AP and AFP, reported that climate activists held a protest in Brussels, Belgium, on the 5th local time and urged the European Union to stop subsidizing fossil fuels.

In the process, dozens of participants, including Thunberg, were arrested after rejecting police demands to stop the sit-in.

Participants argued that if the European Union is to achieve its goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, it must stop subsidizing fossil fuels.

Thunberg was arrested in the Hague, Netherlands, in April after attending a rally condemning the Dutch government's fossil fuel subsidies and tax cuts.

In October last year, he was arrested on charges of violating the Public Order Act while protesting in London, England, and handed over to trial in February, and in June last year, he was fined 180,000 won for disobeying the police in his home country of Malmö, Sweden.
