There are many people who visit the mountains and Oreum in Jeju to enjoy the autumn atmosphere in the cool weather.

There are also a series of mountain accidents, so you should be careful.

This is a report from reporter Kim Kyung-im of KCTV Jeju Broadcasting.

On the 7th, Black Oreum in Yeondong, Jeju-si.

Firefighters carefully descend the trail with a woman on a stretcher.

A report was received that a visitor fainted near the top of Black Oreum in Yeondong, Jeju-si.

Firefighters were dispatched to rescue a female visitor in her 40s and take her to a hospital.

Recently, as more and more people visit Oreum or mountains in the cooler weather, mountain accidents have occurred one after another.

In the past five years, there have been more than 1,600 mountain accidents in Jeju, which has been on the rise every year.

This year, there have already been 500 accidents by last month, nearly doubling the average over the past five years.

On a monthly basis, 27.5% occurred between September and November, and accidents are concentrated in the fall season,

Disaster accidents accounted for nearly half of the total, followed by loss, fall, and personal illness.

In order to prevent accidents, it is recommended to check the weather and course before hiking and refrain from excessive hiking.

In particular, caution should be taken as the daily temperature range is large and in mountainous areas, hypothermia is likely to occur as the weather changes rapidly depending on altitude.

[Seo Seung-hyun / Jeju Fire Department 119 Rescue Team: You can prevent hypothermia by wearing an outerwear such as a windbreaker and maintaining body temperature during rest. In the event of an accident, please report it to 119 and let us know the information such as the national branch number or departure point together when reporting so that 119 personnel can quickly arrive at the accident site and perform rescue and emergency services.]

This year, mountain accidents are likely to increase in the future as autumn leaves are colored later than usual due to a late heat wave.

Fire authorities have advised that basic safety rules should be observed for pleasant hiking.
