Although the first parliamentary audit of the 22nd National Assembly has entered its second week, the battle over the suspicion of Kim Gun-hee and the judicial risk of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, is expected to continue this week.

The ruling and opposition parties are engaged in a last-minute all-out campaign ahead of this Wednesday's by-elections to select four heads of local governments. Reporter Lee Junyeop!

First of all, the schedule for the parliamentary audit continues this week, so what will be covered?

[Reporter]
As with last week's parliamentary audit, the opposition party is expected to tighten its offensive rein around the suspicion of First Lady Kim Gun-hee.

Tomorrow, the National Assembly's inspection of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is expected to question Mrs. Kim's alleged involvement in the nomination and external pressure on the investigation of Chae Sang-byung.

In addition, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office will be asked about the direction of non-prosecution and stock price manipulation cases, and "alleged drug investigation external pressure" will be an issue at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's audit by the Public Administration and Security Commission.

On the other hand, the ruling party will soon counterattack by highlighting judicial risks, including Lee Jae-myung's violation of the Public Official Election Act and the perjury teacher case, which is about to be sentenced in the first trial.

The National Audit of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and the Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency of the Public Administration and Security Committee also plans to mention allegations that Lee Jae-myung gave preferential treatment to KonaI, a local currency management agency when he was governor.

It is also expected to focus on the former government's suspicions, including allegations of "preferential employment for former President Moon Jae In's former son-in-law" against the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office.

This Wednesday, there will also be a by-election to select the head of a local government, what is the situation of each party?

[Reporter]
With early voting taking place for two days until yesterday, the main voting day for the by-elections, which will select four heads of local governments and the superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, is just three days away.

Among them, the Busan Geumjeong-gu District Office by-election is considered the biggest battleground between the ruling and opposition parties.

People's Power Han Dong-hoon, who visited Busan Geumjeong four times during the by-election, tried to dispel concerns over the recent suspicion of Kim Gun-hee, citing the need for personnel reform in the presidential office.

In its commentary, the ruling party also focused on the "controversy over misrepresentation" of Kim Young-bae of the Democratic Party, saying it would do politics different from that of the Democratic Party, which blurs the election with hasty remarks and insults.

The opposition parties, which have unified their candidates, have gone all out, with Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung emphasizing that it is the second judgment election against the Yoon Suk Yeol regime, and representative Cho Kuk also participating in the support campaign.

Supreme Council member Kim Min-seok also held a press conference and held a public opinion contest that the by-election, which will be held on October 16, the anniversary of the Buma Uprising, is a confirmation and re-judgment of the Yoon Suk Yeol regime.

The election for Gokseong and Yeonggwang counties in Jeollanam-do, where opposition candidates compete, is also hot.

Both early voting rates exceeded 40%, especially in Yeonggwang, as candidates from the Cho Kuk Innovation Party and the Progressive Party as well as the Democratic Party made strides.

As the opposition sees the by-election as a barometer of public sentiment in Honam in the local elections two years later, it is expected to make all-out efforts to gather supporters at the last minute.
