In the parliamentary audit of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, the ruling and opposition parties have been engaged in a war of nerves over the adoption of a reference for the mayor of Paju, a border region, amid North Korea's growing threat to the South.

There were also battles over allegations related to Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Kim Gun-hee.

Reporter Choi Myung-shin reports.

The ruling and opposition parties set a date from the beginning over the adoption of a reference for the mayor of Paju, a border area.

The ruling party violated the process of having to serve a request for attendance seven days before the reference's attendance, and the opposition party countered that the situation was as reasonable as it was urgent.

[BAE JUN YOUNG / People's Power: If you use harsh expressions that ignore the procedure, you get frustrated by the parliamentary audit]

[Yoon Gun-young / Democratic Party of Korea National Assembly member: I think it is necessary for the National Assembly to respond accordingly in an urgent situation]

When the mayor of Paju attended, the workshop became even hotter.

[Kim Kyung-il / Paju Mayor (Democratic Party of Korea): We will actively deter some North Korean defectors by invoking their citizenship as democratic citizens.]

[Lee Sung-kwon / People's Power: When it's time to talk about peace, who should I say that to? Shouldn't we go to North Korea first? To Kim Jong Un.]
Governor of Gyeonggi Province Kim Dong-yeon said he is considering setting up a dangerous zone in response to North Korea's artillery readiness.

[Kim Dong-yeon / Governor of Gyeonggi-do Province: Before the parliamentary inspection this morning, I ordered Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Paju, Gimpo, and Goyang to consider setting up dangerous zones.]

The ruling and opposition parties were more focused on scrimping the other side than asking about pending issues in Gyeonggi Province.

The People's Power focused on the appropriateness of the Ilsan Bridge free of charge measures promoted by Lee Jae-myung as governor of Gyeonggi Province and the suspicion of illegal preferential treatment by local currency management agencies.

[Jeong Dong-man / National Assemblyman of People's Power: The link between representative Lee Jae-myung and local currency is still a local currency management agency in Gyeonggi-do. You know KONA, right?]

The Democratic Party of Korea responded by saying that the land of First Lady Kim Gun-hee's family near the end of the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway change was a preferential treatment.

[Lee Kwang-hee / Minjoo Party of Korea National Assembly member: One of the easiest sources on the Internet these days is that it passed the land owned by Kim Gun-hee to change the end point of Yangpyeong Expressway.]

There were no questions about Goyang K-Culture Valley and Gyeonggi Northern Special Self-Governing Province, which drew attention.
