Delivery rider safety training is slow...40% of the target

Safety education promoted for the safe driving of motorcycle drivers working in the delivery industry has turned out to be at a virtually nominal level.

According to the data submitted by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to Ahn Tae-joon of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, the corporation was scheduled to educate 1,000 riders this year, but so far it has been less than 7%.

Delivery safety training began in August, but three times were canceled due to poor training, and only three participants attended the recruitment of 15 students, showing a low participation rate.

In this regard, Ryder Union, a group of delivery workers, complained that the training was for riders nationwide, but there were few training sites and the contents of the training were poor.

On the contrary, the Korea Transportation Corporation argued that the delivery platform company, which had initially cooperated with promoting education, showed an uncooperative attitude unlike the agreement, and that training safety education instructors was more difficult than expected.

Along with the recent surge in online consumption, the number of delivery workers has increased significantly, with 23,000 cases of industrial accidents while delivering food over the past five years.
