A 60-year-old man who set fire to a house he shared with his wife after a marital fight and drove away while intoxicated was also sentenced to prison on appeal.
The Chuncheon District Court of the Seoul High Court sentenced 66-year-old A, who was handed over to trial on charges of arson and drunk driving, to three years in the same prison as the original trial.
Mr. A was put on trial in January on charges of setting fire to his house and running away in anger when his wife, who had a fight with him, did not return home.
He was found to have driven 27 kilometers from Pyeongchang to Yeongwol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.106% at the time.
The first trial court sentenced A to prison for searching for a crime tool that amplifies explosiveness with a planned method and leaving the scene without much effort to extinguish the fire.
