SK Hynix posted record-high sales, operating profit, and net profit in the third quarter of this year.
SK Hynix tentatively estimated that its operating profit in the third quarter of this year was KRW 7.3 trillion on a consolidated basis, turning into a surplus compared to the third quarter of last year.
Revenue was KRW 17.5731 trillion and net profit was KRW 5.7534 trillion, which is also the highest on a quarterly basis.
Sales, in particular, were new records in the first quarter and operating profit and net profit were the highest in six years since 2018, when semiconductors were booming.
As Samsung Electronics' semiconductor business operating profit is expected to be around KRW 4 trillion in the third quarter, SK Hynix seems to have far exceeded Samsung Electronics.
SK Hynix said it achieved its largest sales since its foundation by continuing strong demand for artificial intelligence memories and expanding sales of high value-added products such as high bandwidth memory and HBM.
He said it was premature to talk about concerns about slowing HBM demand, adding that HBM demand next year will increase more than expected as demand for artificial intelligence chips is increasing and customers' willingness to expand investment is being confirmed.
