The Ministry of Environment said it would not immediately expand the deposit system for disposable cups nationwide.

Environment Minister Kim Wan-seop said in a comprehensive audit of the Ministry of Environment of the National Assembly's Environment and Labor Committee today (24th) that it would be better to implement the disposable cup guarantee system step by step rather than expanding it nationwide.

He then mentioned that he would also push for a gradual expansion of the deposit system around large facilities such as baseball stadiums, amusement parks, airports, and universities where consumers stay for a long time and are easy to return due to their entrances.

In addition, Minister Kim made an official apology for the revelation of an internal document to the effect that the Ministry of Environment will mobilize groups that can be used as allies, such as the National Assembly, academia, and the media, and use them for policy.
