The urban development project around Dongcheon Station on the Gyeongin Railway, the original city center of Incheon, will begin in earnest.
The Incheon Metropolitan Government said that the 93,000㎡ development plan in Songhyeon-dong, Dong-gu, and Inhyeon-dong, Jung-gu, around Dongcheon Station, passed the city's urban planning committee's deliberation.
This project is a public development method involving the Incheon Urban Innovation Corporation, and plans to spend 512 billion won to build 1,279 houses and accommodate 2,500 people.
After completing the implementation design next year, construction will begin in 2026 and be completed in 2029.
The area around Dongcheon Station was one of the busiest commercial districts in Incheon until the early 1990s, but the commercial district declined sharply due to the fact that it was pushed back by commercial districts in new cities such as Songdo and Cheongna International City.
