A handgun was found in the luggage of an American man in his 40s who was using the Incheon International Airport Terminal 2 transfer station.
The man, who departed from Los Angeles, U.S., was passing through a search site to transfer his plane at around 6:50 p.m. on the 22nd when his handgun was caught by a security checker who was reading his luggage.
As a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Incheon International Airport Police Corps, it was confirmed that the pistol, made in the 1900s, could actually be fired.
A police investigation reportedly stated that the man had purchased a handgun as an antique in the United States and had no idea he had put it in his bag.
Police believe the man failed to detect a handgun at the airport when he departed from the United States.
Police say the ammunition was not found together, and that the man was not suspected of anti-aircraft, and that they left the country after retrieving the pistol.
