It is attracting attention as a business that creates new jobs in regions that are on the verge of extinction.

Colorful flowers and plants are growing in the green house.

It is an unusual 'living plant' that can only be seen in Korea.

It's not easy to grow, but tree experts came out and taught me how to grow it.

[Jeonguljin / Seokpo-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do: It's good for farmers to raise them well, but it's very important to sell them, but it's a very good advantage to be able to grow them without worrying about sales. The cultivation skills are increasing a lot because they also provide training on cultivation skills from time to time.]

The plants that have been raised like this head to an arboretum nearby. It's where the

'Pirate Flower Festival' will be held, and its unique scent and colorful appearance attract the attention of visitors.

[Park Chun-suk, Jeong Deok-jae / Suwon City Younghwa-dong: I didn't know Korean native plant flowers were so pretty. It's so nice to be here, and the air is so nice.]

The project to entrust the cultivation of native plants at farms around the arboretum began in 2019.

The number of farms that started with 20 households nearly quadrupled, with jobs increasing eight times and contract amounts doubling.

[Shim Sang-taek / Chairman of the Korea Arboretum Garden Management Board: To respond to the crisis of local extinction and contribute to balanced regional development, we are promoting regional win-win model projects such as holding local festivals using native plants with local forestry and farmers]

Our beautiful native plants decorating the arboretum are playing a role in reviving areas that are losing vitality.
