Japan's Kyodo News reported on the 27th that Ukraine plans to distribute Korean leaflets to the front lines to actively urge North Korean troops sent to Russia to surrender when they are deployed to combat the country.

An official from the intelligence bureau under Ukraine's Defense Ministry told Kyodo News, "For North Korean soldiers under pressure from the dictatorship, sending them is a good opportunity to run away from their home country."

The official added that it is necessary to investigate whether North Korean soldiers committed war crimes during the battle, but there is also room for protection as North Korean defectors after the war with Russia.

Regarding the Ukrainian authorities' policy, Kyodo analyzed, "We intend to make them lose their fighting spirit by guaranteeing humane prisoner treatment."

The New York Times reported that thousands of North Korean soldiers began arriving in Kursk, a battleground between Ukraine and Russia, on the 23rd and are expected to participate in a counteroffensive to drive out Ukrainian forces.
