Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics, who marks the second anniversary of his inauguration
, will appear at the appeals trial at 2 p.m. today over the alleged unfair merger between Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries.

Earlier, Chairman Lee was handed over to trial on charges of unfairly intervening in the merger ratio of Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries in favor of the succession of Samsung's management rights and was acquitted in the first trial.

◇ Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon's trial on 'illegal collection of donations for assembly'

The trial of Jeon Kwang-hoon, the pastor of Sarang First Church, who was accused of illegally collecting donations at a large rally in Gwanghwamun Square, Seoul, will be held at 5 p.m. today.

Pastor Jeon is accused of raising about 1.5 billion won in donations without registering donations at Gwanghwamun rallies every weekend in 2019.
