Russian media reported on the 24th that Russian forces have captured British national James Scott Rhys Anderson, who was a member of the Ukrainian military in western Kursk.
Russian military sources said a British mercenary had been captured in the Kursk region, according to the Tas news agency, adding that he had named himself 'James Scott Rhys Anderson'.
It has not been confirmed whether the Russian media reports are true.
However, if a British national belonging to the Ukrainian military was actually captured, it suggests that international troops from foreign countries may have been mobilized in the process of Ukraine's occupation of Kursk.
The report comes as the U.S. and Britain have recently allowed Ukraine to use long-range missiles.
Meanwhile, some military media also reported that Ukrainian forces struck Kursk with British-made Storm Shadow missiles, killing 500 North Korean soldiers and dozens of Russian troops.
Tensions are rising as Russia responds with the launch of a new ballistic missile.
