Acting Defense Minister Holds Video Conference With ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Commander

Acting Defense Minister Kim Sun-ho held a video conference with the commander of the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command for the first time since the emergency martial law incident.

The Ministry of National Defense said today (12th) that acting Defense Minister Kim Sun-ho discussed the security situation on the Korean Peninsula with South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Commander Paul Ruckamera, and confirmed that the South Korea-U.S. alliance is strong and discussed ways to strengthen the joint defense posture.

Commander Ruckamara told Acting President Kim Sun-ho that he respects the sovereignty of the Republic of Korea, is ready to respond to external threats, and that joint training and activities will not be daunted by external factors.

The two sides agreed to continue the planned joint exercises and exercises to maintain a joint defense posture and decided to strengthen communication between South Korea and the U.S. to curb North Korea's provocations.
