Nexon Games announced today (11th) that CEO Park Yong-hyun won the Presidential Award for distinguished overseas expansion at the "2024 Korea Content Awards" hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. CEO Park Yong-hyun was recognized for his contribution to the spread of the Korean Wave by successfully promoting domestic games to the global market.
The award is based on global achievements made by CEO Park Yong-hyun and Nexon Games. Blue Archive, which has been successful in Japan and Southeast Asian markets, Hit 2, which ranked at the top of sales immediately after its launch in China and Japan, and First Descendants, which recorded 550,000 simultaneous users on PCs and consoles, are examples. In particular, "First Descendants" proved the global competitiveness of Korean games, with users from the U.S. and Europe accounting for 70% of the total.
CEO Park Yong-hyun said, "This award was created by users around the world and executives and employees of Nexon Games. We will continue to do our best to raise the status of Korean games in the global market."
Nexon Games is currently focusing on developing new products targeting the global market. Various genres of games are being developed, including the open world action RPG "Dungeon & Fighter: Arad," a new project "Project DX" using the "Land of the Wild: Durango" IP, and the new IP "Project RX" of the subculture genre.
