"5060 more than MZ"...Convenience store sales 'big hands' have changed.

2024.10.23 오전 10:20
In the last two years following high prices, 50s and 60s have emerged as major customers of convenience stores.

This is the result of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry's analysis of sales trends of convenience stores in the first half of this year for 1,500 stores nationwide of four convenience stores.

In the first half of this year, sales of convenience stores by age group increased 18% in their 50s and 21% in their 60s compared to two years ago.

During the same period, sales in their 30s and 40s increased by 5% and sales in their 20s decreased by 12%.

Experts analyzed that the increase in the number of one or two-person households in their 50s and 60s is the result of the spread of purchasing as little as necessary at convenience and accessible convenience stores.

At the same time, it was found that affordable and convenient convenience stores are absorbing the demand for eating out as the burden of eating out increases due to high prices.

Convenience stores' meal replacement sales rose 18% in the first half of this year from two years ago, far outpacing the overall sales growth of 4%.

By substitute type, ramen sales growth was the largest at 25%, followed by soup, soup, stew, lunch boxes, and instant rice.
