The Ministry of Education has launched a high-intensity audit of Seoul National University Medical School, which approved the collective leave of absence issued by students for the first time in opposition to the increase in medical schools.

The Ministry of Education also sent an official warning to medical schools nationwide not to approve leave of absence, but the medical community protested that the threatening measures should be canceled.

Officials from the Ministry of Education visited the main office of Seoul National University Gwanak Campus.

This is to examine whether there is any problem with the procedure in which Seoul National University Medical School approved 700 students on leave of absence without following the government's "policy of not taking a leave of absence from the alliance."

The Ministry of Education, which put in 12 auditors to conduct a large-scale audit, said it would sternly reprimand any defects found, signaling a high-intensity audit.

It also sent an official letter to medical schools nationwide that they would check the decision-making process if additional leave of absence permits were granted.

It is an open warning not to participate in the so-called "approval of Domino's leave of absence" from Seoul National University, but the medical community immediately protested.

He said he was sorry for the Ministry of Education's unfair field audit and refuted that medical students who missed more than half a year of classes could not become doctors without being properly educated.

He then stressed that it is common sense to audit universities that promote medical students who have not completed their curriculum, and that threatening measures should be canceled immediately.

[Lee Jong-tae / Chairman of the Korea Medical University and Medical Association: The dean has the idea of autonomous academic management of the university. Please take our appeal seriously that you want the Ministry of Education to stop the audit.]

Despite the government's bluffing audit to block approval of additional leave of absence, some medical schools are said to be considering whether to approve applications for leave of absence.

Even if medical students return now, it is practically impossible to do a year's worth of education until February next year.

Some say that as normal academic management has become difficult this year, we should prepare for a situation where 7,500 new and returning students will take classes at once next year.

In this complex calculation method, there is room for further escalation of the level of legislative conflict depending on the results and measures of the Ministry of Education's audit of Seoul Medical University.
