Starting next year, first graders of elementary schools in downtown Seoul will be tested for dyslexia, and first graders of high schools will be tested for borderline intelligence.

Chung Geun-sik, superintendent of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, said he will diagnose basic academic ability in-depth through the first project, the Learning Center.

Specifically, we plan to set a specific grade as an intensive grade for in-depth diagnosis and diagnose all students for dyslexia, difficulty, and borderline intelligence.

Dyslexia diagnosis will start with the first grade of elementary school next year and expand to the second grade from 2026.

The borderline intelligence test, which has an intelligence index higher than that of intellectual disability, but is less than average intelligence, will also be expanded to the first year of middle school in 2026, and to the third year of elementary school in 2027.
