"An average gynecologist is 54.4 years old...33% over 60 years old"

It was found that one out of three obstetricians is in their 60s or older, and the aging phenomenon is severe.

According to the data received by Park Seung-hee of the Democratic Party of Korea of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee from the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the average age of obstetricians as of August this year was 54.4.

By age group, people in their 50s accounted for the most, accounting for 32.5% of the total, and the total number of elderly people over the age of 60 was 33%.

Among the regions, the average age of obstetricians in North Gyeongsang Province was the highest at 60.8, followed by 59.6 in North Jeolla Province and 59.1 in South Jeolla Province.

In addition, 0.24 obstetricians and gynecologists per 1,000 female population were identified, and 0.16 were the fewest in the country in Gyeongbuk.

Representative Park emphasized the urgent need to come up with policies to strengthen public medical capabilities in the region as the more local the more concerned the medical gaps in obstetrics and gynecology in the future.
