"Workplace harassment" increases every year...Sixteen victims died.

It was found that the number of workplace harassment reports and industrial accident approval increased every year.

According to the data received by Rep. Lee Yong-woo of the Democratic Party of Korea from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the number of workplace harassment reports increased every year from 2,400 in 2019 to 15,000 last year.

The number of injured workers applying for industrial accidents also increased significantly from 20 in 2019 to 185 last year, and 16 people died from bullying after the law went into effect.

Looking at the types of harassment, out of 47,000 reports in the last five years (2019-2023), verbal abuse was the most common at 33%, followed by unfair personnel measures (14%) and gossip and bullying (11%).

In particular, 828 cases have been identified as perpetrators of the investigation in the past three years, Lee said, adding that if the user is reported as a perpetrator, the related law will be revised to prevent so-called "self-investigation."
