Today, I will report the results of the NSC Standing Committee held this morning.

The National Security Office held an emergency meeting of the standing members of the National Security Council on Tuesday morning, October 22, presided over by National Security Office chief Shin Won-sik to discuss how to respond to North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia and its participation in the war in Ukraine.

Participants strongly condemned North Korea's dispatch of troops to Russia's illegal war of aggression against Ukraine, pointing out that it is a serious security threat to South Korea and the international community and a blatant violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions banning any military cooperation with North Korea.

The government called for the immediate withdrawal of North Korean troops and decided not to sit idly by and deal with the international community if the current military collusion between North Korea and Russia continues.

The government will implement phased countermeasures in line with the progress of Russia-North Korea military cooperation following the North's dispatch of combat troops.

In the process, we will work closely with allies and allies to ensure that strong and effective measures against Russia-North Korea military cooperation are implemented.

In addition, we will comprehensively review possible scenarios and prepare corresponding measures in preparation for the possibility that Russia-North Korea military cooperation poses a significant threat to our security.

Meanwhile, participants pointed out that the North Korean regime, which has only been engrossed in nuclear and missile development while completely ignoring the people's livelihoods and human rights, is finally driving young North Koreans to an unprovoked battlefield as Russian mercenaries.

At times like this, the government has decided to pursue the August 15 Unification Doctrine without wavering to ensure the freedom and human rights of North Koreans and to create a peaceful and prosperous Korean Peninsula.
