Hundreds of hospital directors and patients have been booked by the police on charges of winning hundreds of millions of dollars in insurance money in false documents after performing expensive procedures that do not cover real-life insurance.

It was investigated that the medical records were decorated as if they had been treated with real loss insurance and the treatment dates were divided into fake ones in accordance with the insurance claim limit on the 1st.

Police enter the lobby of the hospital.

Investigators explain search warrants and secure patients' medical documents.

They have launched a forced investigation into allegations of false claims for loss insurance.

The hospital recommended a procedure using expensive high-frequency treatment devices for patients complaining of musculoskeletal pain, saying it is a regenerative treatment method that athletes receive.

This treatment was not subject to loss insurance, but the police investigation found that it was falsely written in the medical records as if it had received manual treatment or extracorporeal shock wave treatment that could be claimed.

In addition, the police said they also used a so-called "splitting treatment date" method so that treatment costs of 400,000 to 800,000 won can be divided into 200,000 to 300,000 won per day, which is the limit for claiming loss insurance.

In this way, the insurance money that patients won from February last year to June this year amounted to 700 million won.

Director A was found to have conspired to do so-called "medical shopping" by promoting the experience of a broadcast appearance or a famous businessman's doctor, attracting patients, minimizing their burden, and making sure there are no problems in the insurance claim process.

[Hospital staff: (Can I hear from the director?)] "No, no, no. I'm sorry.]

The police booked 366 people, including hospital officials and patients, on charges of insurance fraud and violation of the medical law.

[Lee Seung-ha / Head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Team: It is suggested that you can receive real loss insurance (for expensive procedures), but claiming medical expenses on days when you don't receive medical treatment can be an accomplice of insurance fraud..]

The police plan to strengthen intelligence collection and crackdown on false loss insurance claims that cause insurers to lose money.
