Macron "Should Stop Supply of Weapons to Israel for Gaza"

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for an end to arms supplies to Israel to find a political solution to the Gaza war.

"The top priority is for us to return to a political solution, to stop supplying weapons to fight in Gaza," Macron said in a recent interview with France's Anpo, according to AFP.

"France does not supply any weapons," Macron added.

Last month, Britain suspended some arms exports to Israel, citing the risk of violating international humanitarian law.

On the other hand, the U.S., which supplies about $3 billion and 4 trillion won worth of weapons to Israel every year, concluded in May that Israel likely violated international humanitarian law after using U.S.-backed weapons in Gaza, but could not be confirmed, and confirmed its policy to continue providing weapons.

"We don't fight terrorism, terrorists at the expense of civilians," Macron said of the Gaza war, which also follows calls for a ceasefire.

He then stressed that the call for a ceasefire does not seem to be working well, but he thinks it is a mistake and that it is also for Israeli security.

President Macron also said it is important to avoid escalation in Lebanon at the moment, adding, "Lebanon should not be another Gaza."
