While Han Kang's novel, which won the Nobel Prize for Literature, is sweeping the bookstore with a monopoly on the top of the bestseller list, the number of people borrowing books from libraries has also increased rapidly.
According to statistics from the library's big data analysis platform "Library Information Naru" run by the National Library of Korea, the novel "I Don't Say Goodbye" released in 2021 ranked first in the book with a sharp rise in loans as of the previous day.
This is a tally of loans from more than 1,000 public libraries nationwide.
In particular, "I Don't Say Goodbye" was ranked 445th in the list of loan status for a week from the 30th of last month, but rose 442 places to third place on October 7-13.
Demand for loans seems to have increased significantly since the announcement of the Nobel Prize winner on the 10th.
One of Han Kang's masterpieces, "The Boy Is Coming," also showed a sharp rise in weekly loan rankings from 178th to second.
