With the influx of strong rain clouds, the rain is also strengthening in Seoul and other metropolitan areas.

Autumn heavy rain with gusts is expected to fall across the country overnight, with many places forecasting up to 120mm.

After the rain stops, the temperature is expected to drop significantly.

I'll connect you to a reporter for more information.

Reporter Jung Hye-yoon, where is the strongest rain right now?

[Reporter]
Yes, we are on the west coast of Gyeonggi-do, including Incheon, and the west coast of Chungcheongnam-do. Heavy rains of more than 50mm per hour have been pouring into Seosan's Jangsu-dong for a while, and those in this area should pay attention to the damage caused by flooding.

Some areas, including Gangseo-gu, Seoul, are receiving heavy rain of around 20mm per hour.

This is because strong low pressure accompanied by gusts of wind and lightning is flowing inland from the West Sea.

Cold air from the north and hot air from the south collide, creating heavy rain clouds that look like summertime in some areas, so caution is needed.

If you look at the special warning situation, heavy rain warnings are currently being issued on the west coast of Chungnam, including Taean, Dangjin, and Seosan, and Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.

In particular, storm surge warnings are currently in place on the west coast of Honam and the west coast of Chungnam, where the level of seawater has risen due to the overlapping control period until Sunday.

Following Gunsan and Gimje Buan, it was further expanded to Hongseong, Taean, Dangjin, Seosan, and Boryeong from 3:30 p.m.

In the future, heavy rain warnings will be further expanded to the east and south coasts of Gangwon-do, and wind and strong wind warnings will be expanded to all seas and coasts.

If you look at the radar, you can see that strong rain clouds are currently affecting the central region.

The place where the purple rain clouds stay is where more than 30mm of rain falls per hour.

Chungcheong, the metropolitan area, and everywhere are affected, so caution is needed.

By tomorrow, the weekend, the east coast of Gangwon-do and the mountains will receive up to 120mm of autumn heavy rain,
It is expected that more than 100mm of rain will fall on the southern coast such as
Busan. Seoul is expected to receive up to 60 millimeters of rain.

Along with the rain, there will be gusts of around 20m per second on the coast and inland, and there is a possibility of first snow in the mountains of Gangwon-do, where the temperature is low.

I heard that the weather gets very cold after the rain stops.

[Reporter]
Yes, after the rain stops, the cold in the north is expected to drop sharply from daytime on the weekend.

In particular, temperatures will plunge below 10 degrees in the central interior overnight on the weekend,

It will be the coldest this fall, with 9 degrees in Seoul, 5 degrees in Paju and Cheorwon, and 4 degrees in Yeoncheon on Sunday morning.

In the mountains of Gangwon-do, the temperature drops close to zero degrees Celsius, and there are places where the rain or snow freezes over the weekend, making thin ice on the road.

Inland daytime temperatures such as Seoul will also stay below 20 degrees Celsius, making it chilly all day.

The chilly autumn weather will continue next week, with another round of rain expected across the country on Tuesday, starting with the southern part of the country on Monday.
