As the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province fosters the Jeju-type space industry, the performance of related companies nesting in Jeju is also gradually showing up.

In particular, the largest space ground station in Korea is being built in Sangdae-ri, Hallim-eup.

This is a report from reporter Moon Soo-hee of KCTV Jeju Broadcasting.

A large antenna with a plate size of 4m was installed in the area of Sangdae-ri, Hallim-eup.

Korea's largest space ground station, which is being built by private space company Contek on 23,000 square meters of land in the area of Sangdae-ri.

As the first phase of the project has recently entered the final stage, nine antennas, including four for communication and five for low-orbit satellites, have been in operation.

Contact's space ground station was designated as an investment promotion zone by Jeju Island last year.

It plans to complete the installation of 12 antennas by the end of this year and create a satellite control room and a space experience room to provide satellite data reception processing services in earnest.

As the government's approval of frequency allocation is limiting the transmission and reception of some data, we are also pursuing the development of technology using optical communication to send and receive data through light rather than frequency.

While Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is fostering the Jeju-type space industry, related companies that have nestled in Jeju are showing their achievements one by one.

The construction of a space center is underway at the House of Representatives Techno Campus, the former site of Tamna University, designated as the government's Special Opportunity Development Zone,

Feridge Aerospace is expected to launch its own projectile this month.

Jeju Island plans to ask the government to select a space cluster based on the performance of private companies.
